Marine wildlife viewing is spectacular

Sea Otter Kayaking offers unique kayak trips, wildlife viewing and wildlife photography vacations. We provide unique fully catered multiday adventure kayaking expeditions as well as Bed and Breakfast based photography vacations. Sailing/kayaking marine mamal viewing. We offer top quality kayaks for rental to experienced kayakers.

Depending on the season and the weather you can expect to encounter a variety of raptors and marine birds including eagles, hawks, falcons, vultures and owls, swans, gulls, puffins, scooters, and more. As well we often view marine life such as Seals, Sea lions, Porpoise, Orcas, Grey Whales, Humpback Whales, Sea Lions, Harbour Seals, and Otters.

Sea Otter Kayaking based on Salt Spring Island, on the west coast of Canada's British Columbia. We are located in the heart of the Gulf Islands, the string of islands tucked away between Vancouver island and the mainland.

Whether you’re an enthusiast or a complete beginner there is something for everyone on our tours.

Your guide can help you with the necessary skills to get the most out of your camera and become a better photographer. We will cover important aspects such as composition, exposure, perspective, subject matter and lighting.

About your guide

Bill Elford graduated college in photography in 1974. Having worked in photo journalism, advertisng and then biological photography. In 1980 I received a post gradute degree in Biological Photography.

Bill is now based on Salt Spring Island, the largest of the gulf Islands. Since the early 90's I have operated my own photgraphy/illustraton company and in 1999 I took over Sea Otter Kayaking, which is a kayaking, sailing and marine adventure company located on Salt Spring Island. I have tried to give these trips an exciting feel, connecting you with our marine environment while learning something new about photography and your surroundings.
